Ill-Fated

They didn’t know what it was
They couldn’t give it a name
But what they knew to be true
Was that it was not a game

It was obvious from the start
That this was not to last
But how could either of them defy,
Their emotions
engulfing them
in a sea
so vast?

They say we always want what we cant have
But no one seems to see,
that sometimes
we get the very thing we want
only to live
in a regret
that haunts.
